FAQs

My heat pump is not providing heating or cooling like it used to?

Check your filters – clogged filters can reduce the air flow and performance of your heat pump

Is it set to heat or cool – we recommend setting your heat pump to heat or cool only to provide the best performance and efficiency from your heat pump

Is it set on economy or min heat – these setting will decrease the operation of your heat pump

Do you turn your heat pump off at night – we recommend setting your heat pump and forgetting it. Turning your heat pump off in the winter or summer will cause the heat pump to work harder and take longer to get to the set temperature costing you more money.

Please note these settings may not be for everyone and if you feel in certain temperatures outside your heat pump is not performing as well you may want to turn the setting off.

Economy mode saves more electricity than other operation modes by providing 70% of the usual operation. In cooling/dry the temperature will be a few degrees higher than the set temperature, while Heating will be a few degrees lower.

Energy Saving Program Sensor will also run the temperature a few degrees higher or lower to set point but will adjust to when a human is in the room. If no one is in the room for 20 minutes it will adjust to moderate. When someone returns to the room it will revert to original settings.

Min Heat operation maintains the room temperature at 10 C (50 F).

Are the lights flashing on your Fujitsu? Does your Moovair show DF on the display? Your heat pump may be in defrost. Wait 15 mins. If the issue persists contact our office.

Water dripping from the louvers of your indoor unit on a humid day is normal especially if you have had your unit turned off. When you turn your heat pump on the unit must first remove the humidity from the air to then cool your room. If the water is running down the wall, your drain pipe may be clogged.

Point the remote directly at the head of the unit. Press the button. Are the lights flashing or do you hear a beep. No – replace the batteries

Every 1-3 months. Vacuum, wash with mild detergent or replace.

Take a short video of the flashing lights or note of the error code. At your electrical panel turn the breaker off for your heat pump and wait 10 minutes. Turn back on. If the reset does not work and the error returns contact our office and advise of the number of flashes each light does in sequence or the error code.

Make sure snow and debris are clear of your unit.

Turn the power off to the outdoor unit, at the panel or the disconnect outside. Take a bucket of warm water and pour over the coil to melt the ice. Never chip the ice away as it can cause damage. Human damage is not covered under warranty

Wait, the heat pump can take a few minutes to switch between the modes.

Yes, the coil has collected dust over the summer and it is cleaning it off. The smell should go away if not call the office to book a cleaning.
